Top 5 Tips for Delivering Tobacco

Everything you need to know for new 21+ laws

Favor Delivery
The Rundown

--

Federal law recently raised the age to purchase tobacco to 21. Since Favor delivers almost anything — including tobacco — these changes could affect YOU, so we compiled our Top 5 things you need to know when delivering tobacco.

1. Verify their age

State Law requires that you check the customer’s ID upon delivery.

With this new law, the sale of tobacco is limited to people who are OVER 21 — no exceptions. Military IDs will no longer be accepted if the individual is under the age of 21.

2. Check ID upon delivery

You must verify age with a government-issued photo ID like a driver’s license (any state), state ID, concealed handgun license, passport, or military ID. You do not need to scan this ID in the app.

The name on the ID does not need to match the customer’s name in the Runner app. As long as the recipient matches their ID and is over 21, you’re good to go!

3. Know your products

So you may be wondering: what counts as a tobacco product?

“Tobacco products” include all types of cigarettes, cigars, chewing tobacco, pipe tobacco, snuff, electronic cigarettes, vaping devices and accessories, and liquid refills for any of the above.

We also limit cigarette deliveries to two cartons per order.

4. Buy from select stores

You should only buy tobacco products from approved 21+ merchants like Circle K 21+ or Stripes 21+. You’ll know it’s an approved merchant if you see the “Remote ID Verification Required” notice at the top of the screen.

5. Accepting Favors

Because you have to buy tobacco directly from a retailer, YOU also must meet these new age requirements. If you are not over 21 and receive an order for tobacco, you should decline the Favor. While this may impact your Acceptance Rate, we will make sure it does not impact your access to the Schedule.
